“Cypress Sentinel”
Pastel, 7″ x 10″ image size
Finished 11/14/07
I’m breaking my rule of not painting dead things because this stump still seems to have life in it, or at least memory of its’ purpose. This is one of the areas where we painted during our week-long Bob Rohm workshop near Marble Falls.
I had serious concerns about being able to focus for five whole days, as I generally have difficulty with more than a couple of hours. But it went very well, I think. I started eight pieces during the week and hope to be able to finish all of them. He is an excellent teacher and I feel like I learned a lot that will carry forward for a long time.

Hey, this came out very cool. I like the reflections and the sky light in the front.
