Making your album cover…

January 13th, 2008 · 5 Comments

My friend Jo had a blog on her page about making your “album cover” in this random way, from her daughter Joanna’s page and it was a lot of fun.

But first, I had to find out what a “meme” was…
Meme - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: A meme (pronounced /miːm/), as defined within memetic theory, constitutes a theoretical unit of cultural information, the building block of culture or cultural evolution which spreads through diffusion propagating from one mind to another analogously to the way in which a gene propagates from one organism to another as a unit of genetic information and of biological evolution.[1] Multiple memes may propagate as cooperative groups called memeplexes (meme complexes).

I still don’t know what a meme is.
But here is Joanna’s page: www.joanna.org , discussing making your ‘album cover’.

And here is my resulting album cover, which was quite interesting! Kind of like the deal where you figure out your mafia name, or your stripper name by putting together the name of your first pet, or the street where you grew up, or something like that…but this was more like reading one’s horoscope I think.. .. .. especially since my band’s name (I didn’t realize that this is a Brooklyn rapper) relates to how gifted we are!!

album-cover.jpg The Thoreau quote was a nice random selection, too: What people say you cannot do, you try and find that you can. Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)

How about this page for various definitions of meme?

Does that help? Basically, as far as I’m concerned, it’s just a fad that whirls around the web. If something catches on and “everyone” is doing it, it’s a meme.

Yes, that helps. But it sounds so…. diseased. “parasitically infecting human minds and altering their behavior”? This was a fun thing!

Your album cover is just too serious. But looks like some nice natural, mood music, maybe for driving down the road. :) More fun than being tagged, for sure.

The results that came up - the band name, album name and photo - were all great! I liked the quote the best. And thank you for the compliment on being positive - it is something I continue to aspire to..
