Texas Highlands Sunset

July 31st, 2008 · 3 Comments

I just finished this and framed it because I wanted to have a new painting for my show at Barnes & Noble. And the book I used to prop it up after I framed it was… Seurat! I love his paintings, but wouldn’t want to work along those lines too much.

It looks darker on screen – and I have lightened it quite a bit – but if I lighten it more, the sky comes out too light. One of those difficult to photograph pieces. I took the photo in full sunlight- not sure how that would affect it showing up so dark.

This is great. I like the directional clouds and texture in your strokes. Some paintings just do not photograph easily. I think blues and reds are especially hard and colors I like to use. :)

Thank you, Jo. Now that I’ve framed it, I found a few things I want to change… this one was very hard to photograph!

Very pretty. I’m always partial to sunsets.
