Austin Bats 1     Austin Bats 2

We visited the Congress Street Bridge (actually Ladybird Lake) at sunset last week and got some photos of the bats as they took off for the evening. I doubt that I would ever try to paint this, but it was a great sunset and so many bats it was unbelievable!  If you’d like more information on the world’s largest urban bat colony – 1.5 million bats! - click here:

    Hi Regina,
In all the time I spent in Austin, iInever saw the bats fly from the bridge.
Thanks for letting me do that vicariously through you!

Thank you, Jo and Leslie. It is so amazing to watch them – they keep coming out from the bridge in ribbons, going on for as far as one can see. Think of all those mosquitos they eat!
