Red Lillies and Violet shadows

I was out and about with my art friend Sally today and we saw these great red flowers in central Austin. Anyone know what they are?  (Thank you, Leslie – Schoolhouse lillies, she says!!)

    Yep.
    Schoolhouse lillies or Oxblood lillies.
They got the name ’schoolhouse’ because they seem to bloom this time of year, when kids are going back to school.
They disappear as fast as they show up.

    Love the shadows. Fall shadows…

Thank you, Leslie – I’d never seen them before and even the woman who owned the place didn’t know what they were called.
