I started this one today on a 5×7 Ampersand pastel board, working on getting a second piece ready for the Austin Pastel Society’s show at the Scarbrough Building.

Thank you, Rose. I’ve never done a highway before, because they usually just aren’t very pretty, but thought I’d try this one because I loved the feel of the sun coming over the hill there.

Regina, this is looking great. You are getting a lot of color in the dark and that makes it so interesting.

Jo – Thanks. I still have a ways to go, but like it so far. Interesting to do a road.

This is such a promising start! I’ll come back and see how it’s coming along…. I like to see how you’re massing your values.

Thank you, Susan. I liked the original scene a lot – I don’t often see sunrises, so they always evoke a lot of promise for me.

Sorry for commenting a week late but I haven’t had time to read blogs lately and am just catching up. The first “in progress” photo reminds me of that old “Take on Me” video by A-Ha. Heh. By the way, my confirm word is “Ikea”…does that mean I should go shopping tomorrow?

Yes, I firmly believe that any omen in favor of shopping is real and true – go for it!!
