I’m fairly close to done on this, I think.  I’m trying to decide if a sky painting needs land to ‘anchor’ it.

I like it a lot just the way it is.

    Thank you, Joanna.

I like the composition just the way it is. You can’t improve on nature. About the only thing I would change is to brighten up the edge or darken the clouds a bit to emphasis the contrast. But that might just be my monitor…

Hi, Jan – I appreciate your suggestion – it may be my photo too. I’ll check it out today in a good light, as I worked to get good darks especially in that corner. My gray-teal pastels just didn’t go dark enough, so I put a dark blue Unison underneath that and went over it again. There are never quite enough colors – guess I’ll just have to buy more pastels!!

Beautiful Regina. We have had some pretty skys lately. I’ve been out with my camera a couple of days in a row taking pictures of sunsets from my backyard.

PS I’m all for more pastels!

Karen – I agree – we’ve had wonderful skies!! I took my reference photo for this in Buda on Saturday. Amazing clouds!

We have trees, which I love, but it means I can’t see the sunrises or sunsets unless I drive somewhere. It’s a trade-off…

Ack…. my security word was “broad”. Was that a hint? How do computers know???

Anyway, I like the clouds as they are with no land. Just beautiful.

It may have just been a Bogart computer, an antiquated reference to your gender, right?

Thank you, Jo. Just the sky view makes me feel like I am floating in space, but I kinda like it that way.

I will assume it was a Bogart remark! :)

I still like the clouds. Did you say how big the painting is?
